Play groups are a great way for you and your greyhound to get some exercise and to meet and socialize with other greyhounds and their owners.  It is an invaluable experience for greyhounds  who have a very limited area for exercise and a great resource for owners.  We have some volunteers that participate regularly in them and do attest to the value of getting a chance to let your greyhound RUN!  If you're in the area, check it out.  Bring your grey to meet others and be prepared to watch your very retired hound run like the wind!

A weekly running group for greyhounds only has been established with the help of Protect Our Pets at Ft. Steilacoom, in the off leash dogs park area.  The time is 9am-10am, Sunday morning.  It is in the "small dog" enclosed area.

Ft. Steilacoom

Lakewood, Washington 98498

Bring your grey's muzzle and be prepared to watch that lazy couch potato run for the sheer joy of it.

Please be sure to check out the running group brochure before you go, it gives some helpful hints and lets you know what your responsibilities as an owner are.

Disclaimer:  Greyhounds are social animals.  Greyhounds are athletes and love to run.  Playgroup is a time when greyhound owners allow their dogs to run and socialize with other greyhounds in a safely fenced location.  Exercise is very important for the health of the hounds and playgroup is an excellent supplement to their daily walks.  Northwest Greyhound Advocate Program (NOGAP) recognizes these facts and provides the following information as a service.  All greyhounds and owners, who participate in these playgroups, do so of their own accord and at their own risk.  NOGAP is not liable for any accident or injury that may occur.  Owners accept full responsibility for their dog’s participation.
